SBIR/STTR Letters of Support and Collaboration Template
Why do we need Letters of Support/Collaboration?
These letters are a critical component of your SBIR/STTR application that shows reviewers that there is a need and desire for your proposed innovation in the market. These letters also help to build credibility for you and your start-up to the reviewers. Although these letters may not be a “mandatory” component to submit a proposal for some federal agencies, SBIR/STTR applications that include Letters of Support/Collaboration typically have a higher chance for award than applications that do not include them.
Although there are many different ways to prepare letters of support/collaboration, the following pages include templates and examples of letters of support and letters of collaboration from AWARDED Phase I and Phase II SBIR/STTR proposals.
We hope you will find these resources helpful when preparing letters for your SBIR/STTR application for the following federal agencies: NIH, NSF, DOD, DHS, DOE, USDA, and more!
